Typically the judge places each cat as the best representative of the breed within each generation, then chooses one cat as the best representative overall (even an F1 may be chosen). Both the breed standard and temperament of the cat are considered in placements. The judge also provides detailed explanations of how he/she is judging the cats to help explain and educate the breeders and observers about the breed and showing process.
