ICAT Competition

ICAT stands for 'International Cat Agility Tournaments'. Many cat shows now feature an ICAT course, which is obstacle course designed to showcase feline agility, speed, coordination, intelligence, and training. Many cats enjoy the athletic and intellectual challenge of agility training, and it's another way to strengthen the bond between owner and cat.

The ICAT course consists of a series of tunnels, ramps, hoops, and other types of obstacles. The course is completely enclosed by poles and netting, or in a completely separate room. Only one cat is allowed on the ICAT course at a time, whether for practice or for competition. The owner uses a cat teaser to guide their cat through the course, and the cat is allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to run the course.

ICAT competition is open to all cats - including non-pedigreed household pets. Cats must be at least 8 months old to compete, and kittens between 4-8 months are only permitted to practice on the basic course.

The cost for registration of a cat for ICAT competition is usually $10.
